Post BGS Blog

Whew! Now that we’ve returned all the barricades and rehydrated ourselves…I’d like to thank everyone who helped make Boulders first Green Streets event a fantastic success. Of course thanks so much to The City of Boulder and our other sponsors who financially made the entire liberation project possible.

Thanks Horizon for delivering FREE milk, yougert and cheese. Healthy snacks!

Preparing for the morning bike parade.

Wonderful vendors & activity leaders made the day full of fun and gave people an incentive to make it by foot or bike (or other contraption) down the one mile route and back! Many of these groups gave great gifts away too! Thanks for your generosity.

Great dancing all day long along the whole mile long route.

Thanks to all of you who ventured out to discover what it was all about! We were proud and excited to have incorporate the Fourmile Firefighters parade into the event day.  I know almost everyone in Boulder had at least one friend who lost a house or was impacted by the fire. It was a great way to come together and show that we all love and care for everyone in the community and we offer our support, appreciation and blessings.

Thanks Alexia Parks & Laura Levy for helping bring the Fourmile Firefighters Parade into the BGS fun!

My favorite part of the day was seeing all the smiling faces of many different children… biking, dancing, running and playing. It was great to see a new generation preparing to lead the way into the future -growing up with a focus on good health and sustainability!

Thanks for your smiles and great energy! A new Boulder generation leading the way.

I don’t know how those of you who danced on the streets danced for SO long in that heat! Thanks to Pridemark for sending Bike riding EMT’s. Despite being a record high temperature of 93 degrees…we are happy to say that we didn’t even have to give out one bandaid! Thanks everyone for being safe and considerate on the street. Indian Peaks provided water stations along the way for dogs and people.

Thanks for keeping it safe! CAR-free or CARE-free playing in the streets!

Thanks also to Congressman Polis, and  numerous city council members that showed up be a part of the community and celebrate in the Firemans parade.

Thanks to all my staff and MANY incredible volunteers. You helped the day run smoothly and worked so hard.

Stay tuned for more post-BGS love!

Much love to everyone that was a part of Boulder Green Streets!
