Parking Spaces Day FUN! Thanks to everyone that joined us.

A big thank you and squeezes to everyone that showed up to celebrate Parking Spaces Day!

And a shout out to those businesses that helped us with either food, furniture or support.

These Included:  Hunuman Chai, Pasta Jays, Spruce Confection, Westend Plaza, and the Kitchen Foundation.

Our day began with creating a community living room and serving great Chai. Chai-Time is a good time to sit as a community and talk about  what a mindful and sustainable life is about. People held informal discussion in the BGS living room.

Later, Pasta Jays and Spruce Confection provided us with yummy lunch treats which were eaten while enjoying a presentation and open discussion of the GMO movement by Steve Hoffman of Compass Natural. Steve explains complex issues simply and was readily available to answer audience questions in depth. He’s been in the Natural food movement for over 20 years. Thanks Steve for sharing your wisdom. Steve also helps us with the Organic Alley Food Pavillion hosted each year at Boulder Green Streets Ciclovia!

At 1pm we hosted a “Ride of the 2012 Ciclovia Route”…. If you rode with us, let us know what you thought! We were excited to share details with those that passed by announcing our expanded 2012 route. This year we’ll feature over 3 miles of “open, car-free streets” and 10 condensed, high-energy Zones featuring Boulder’s best in Active living, Cycling, Sustainability, Organic Foods, Natural Products, Yoga, Dance, Eco-Fashion, and more.

Check out the pictures below for a recap of the day.

Thanks again to everyone for joining us for a hot, but great day!!!

For more details on Parking Spaces Day see the article that appeared in the Daily Camera on 6/21/12 here.

Here is a short excerp:

“….On the West End of Pearl St., Boulder Green Streets is planning their third year of participation in the event with a brown-bag lunch and preview of their popular Ciclovia event, scheduled for Sept.16. Brown-bag lunches with samplings from several West End eateries will be available for sale. Founder and Executive Director Hillary Griffith said that they hope to encourage community discussions and share information about “street liberation”… ”
