Thank You to Everyone!

Hello BGS  Friends!

Now that we’ve returned the barricades and packed the event day boxes away in storage we wanted to take a moment to say  thanks.

Thanks to everyone who helped make Boulder Green Streets 2011 Ciclovia event such a wonderful success! We believe somewhere between 10,000-15,000 people attended the event, many spending several hours moving up and down the mile long event space. We’ve had many thank you’s and positive feedback about the day. We were so pleased the weather cooperated and we hope you all had a great day!

Please check out yesterday’s Boulder Daily Camera article regarding Boulder Green Streets. There is also a video which highlights members of the Organic Alley Pavilion, vendors like O Dance Studio and the City’s Boulder Parks & Recreation gymnastics program.

Thank you to our presenting Sponsor the City of Boulder! A special thanks to the City of Boulder departments that helped us make this day possible through their generous contributions: GoBoulder, Local Environmental Action Division (LEAD), Parking Services, and Boulder Parks & Recreation. We could not have put this event on without all of your collective contributions, effort, and support.

Thank you to all of our additional Sponsors: Whole Foods Market, Rudi’s Organic Bakery, Boulder’s Best Organics, Western Disposal, BIBA, Boulder Valley Credit Union, Marv’s Towing, Avid 4 Adventure, YMCA, Lighthouse Solar, Boulder BCycle, Community Cycles, Swift Turtle, Ecosystems, Lillabee, Hunaman Chai, Eldorado Springs water Company, the Boulder Daily Camera, Redirect guide, KGNU, and Elephant Journal.

A special thanks to all our “zone” partners this year: The team at Boulder’s Best Organics and Compass Natural Marketing (Steve Hoffman, Tiffany Tompkins, Seleyn DeYarus, Emily Lawrence, James Townsend, James Young and Richard Rose) for their development and management of the Organic Alley Pavilion. LeAnn Faulkner, Jennifer Johnson and others at BIBA for their work on the “Local & Loving It” Economic Zone and Civic area. Valerie D’Ambrosio, Rachel Gasner and all from the Hanuman Festival who helped put together the Yoga Zone. Each did a fabulous job creating unique experiences along the route making this year VERY dynamic!

Thank you to all our vendors and activity providers. There are too many to list but know that your funds and energy helped make Boulder Green Streets a FREE and fantastic event. We appreciate all the workshops, gifts, teaching and classes you all offered.

A special thanks to BGS staff and volunteers. A special thanks to Jesi Vandeputte, who joined me as full time staff member in mid May and who worked so hard before, during and after the event. And of course, I must give a shout out to outstanding volunteers like Brian Crawford, Myriah Conroy, Courtney Harkins,  Ryan Van Duzer, Kwesi Justice (who all helped on the fashion show and beyond), Greg Haarburger (on barricades and power), Niki Eways (parade), Karl & the Cargo team members (cargo bikes supported errand running and delivery along the route helping us be even more sustainable), and to Rob, Lisa, Alec and many others who worked as traffic marshals (essential). There are too many people to list but we want to know that all of you (you know who you are) are deeply appreciated.

Last of all, thanks again to all the visitors that came to the event. Together we transformed a mile of Boulder streets to celebrate sustainability, well-being and community! We look forward to continuing this Boulder event in 2012 and hope you’ll continue to join us at various events throughout the year.  Stay tuned for meet up’s, fundraisers, fun photographs, stories, and general information on our website, blog, facebook and twitter pages.

Warm Regards,

Hillary Griffith, Founder and Executive Director, Boulder Green Streets
